2024-2025 Continuing the Mission
A defining highlight of this period was IYC's transformative international service trip to Taiwan. Youth volunteers partnered with local organizations through community service projects, cultural exchange, and educational outreach, putting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into action while building meaningful international friendships and partnerships. The experience broadened participants' global perspectives, strengthened cross-cultural understanding, and demonstrated how young people from different backgrounds can work together across borders to create lasting, positive change.
Although the President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) was not offered in 2025, IMPACT Youth Club (IYC) members remained unwavering in their commitment to serving others. Throughout the year, 43 active volunteers contributed 2,102 service hours, continuing to make a meaningful difference through a wide range of community service initiatives. Their dedication reflected the true spirit of volunteerism—serving not for recognition, but out of compassion, leadership, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of others. Together, these efforts reaffirmed IYC's enduring commitment to developing young leaders and creating lasting, positive impact within both local and global communities.
The IYC International SDG Service Trip to Taiwan
In 2024 summer, Impact Youth Club (IYC) marked its long-awaited return to international service with its first SDG Service Trip to Taiwan. More than 30 youth volunteers spent eight days in Taipei, participating in meaningful service projects, cultural exchange, and leadership development inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Throughout the trip, members engaged in a wide range of community service activities, including charity concerts for local communities, senior center visits that fostered intergenerational connections, and historical site restoration projects that contributed to cultural preservation. These hands-on experiences allowed volunteers to put global citizenship into action while learning about Taiwan's history, culture, and community needs.
Beyond service, members explored Taipei's cultural landmarks, experienced local traditions, and built lasting friendships with volunteers from different IYC branches. The trip not only strengthened our commitment to global service but also inspired participants to become more compassionate, culturally aware, and socially responsible leaders.
2024 summer was truly a year of accelerated growth and global thinking. The successful SDG service trip to Taiwan not only provided crucial international service but also enriched our club's culture with new performance arts like the BuDai Puppet Show. By achieving 6,469 service hours, our members demonstrated phenomenal dedication. We completed our transition year, and with our branches now synchronized and energized, we look forward to carrying this momentum into the future with greater success.
Bringing the BuDai Puppet Show Home
During the Taiwan SDG Service Trip, IYC members collaborated with local youth volunteers to learn and perform the traditional BuDai Puppet Show, a treasured Taiwanese performing art.
Inspired by the experience, our U.S. members brought the puppets, costumes, and performance techniques back to America. We created two original BuDai puppet productions and performed them at local schools, senior centers, and community events. They introduced audiences to Taiwan's rich cultural heritage while combining storytelling, music, and education in an engaging way. A meaningful addition to IYC's cultural outreach and demonstrated how international exchange can inspire creativity and cross-cultural understanding.
