2021-2022 Renewal, Growth, and New Beginnings
This year, IMPACT proudly celebrated its 10th Anniversary, marking a decade of inspiring young musicians through excellence in music education, performance, leadership, and community service. The milestone honored the achievements of countless students, teachers, families, and volunteers whose passion and dedication helped build a lasting legacy of music, service, and community impact.
As communities fully reopened, 2022 marked a joyful return to in-person service for Impact Youth Club (IYC). After two years of pandemic restrictions, our volunteers reunited with senior center partners, once again sharing live performances, arts and crafts, games, and meaningful companionship.
Building on this renewed momentum, IYC expanded into new areas of service and leadership. From creative and environmental initiatives to athletic and educational programs, our volunteers embraced new opportunities to serve, learn, and inspire others. The year reflected IYC's continued commitment to innovation, community engagement, and empowering youth to make a lasting impact.
IMPACT's 10th Anniversary Celebration
In September 2021, Impact Youth Club (IYC) celebrated IMPACT's 10th Anniversary with its largest event since the pandemic began—a Community Outdoor Concert and Park Fair, proudly sponsored by Steinway & Sons and TransGlobal. Held at a local park, the celebration welcomed hundreds of community members for live performances, family activities, and interactive exhibits.
More than an anniversary celebration, the event marked a joyful return to in-person gatherings after nearly two years of pandemic restrictions. Families, volunteers, alumni, and community partners reconnected to celebrate a decade of music, service, and community, making the day a meaningful symbol of resilience and renewal.
Supporting Civic Responsibility: Recycle Days
As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, IYC participated in Recycle Days across multiple counties. Volunteers assisted with collecting, sorting, and managing recyclable materials while helping residents properly dispose of reusable items in an environmentally responsible manner.
By supporting these community recycling events, IYC promoted sustainability, civic responsibility, and environmental awareness. The project encouraged youth to take an active role in protecting the environment while demonstrating that small community efforts can make a lasting impact.
Completing the Circle: Rutgers Autism Center
In 2021, Impact Youth Club (IYC) volunteers had the opportunity to visit the newly completed Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS) community center. The visit was especially meaningful, marking the successful completion of a journey that began with IYC's fundraising and advocacy efforts in 2019.
During the visit, volunteers toured the facility, met with staff and participants, and witnessed firsthand how the center would provide life-changing programs and opportunities for adults with autism. Seeing the project come to life reinforced the value of sustained community partnerships and reminded our volunteers that their dedication and service can create a lasting impact well beyond the initial fundraising efforts.
The Rhythm of Service: IYC Zumba Dance Team
This year, IYC launched its Zumba Dance Team under the guidance of professional fitness and dance instructor Ms. Enguiea. Through regular training, members developed their dance skills, confidence, teamwork, and a passion for promoting healthy lifestyles.
The team brought its energetic performances to shopping malls, community centers, and local events, inspiring audiences through music, movement, and enthusiasm. More than entertainment, these performances encouraged fitness, community engagement, and positive living while showcasing another creative way IYC volunteers could serve and connect with the community.
Trail and Coastal Cleanup Expansion
In 2022, Impact Youth Club (IYC) expanded its environmental stewardship efforts by organizing six park, trail, and coastal cleanup events throughout New Jersey. Working alongside county park rangers, volunteers learned valuable conservation and trail-maintenance skills while helping to preserve local parks and natural spaces.
IYC hosted our first beach cleanup at Sandy Hook, where volunteers removed litter along the Jersey Shore while educating beachgoers about protecting the coastal environment. These hands-on projects promoted environmental awareness, civic responsibility, and inspired youth to take an active role in preserving the natural beauty of their communities.
Collaborative Art: Love Hands Posters
In 2022, Impact Youth Club (IYC) launched the Love Hands Posters project to celebrate the special bond between our youth volunteers and senior friends. Volunteers worked together to create colorful, collaborative handprint posters, with each hand representing friendship, compassion, and community.
These handmade works of art were donated to local senior centers as lasting symbols of appreciation and connection. More than a creative activity, the project strengthened intergenerational relationships and reminded seniors that they remained valued, remembered, and loved by the IYC community.
Growing for Good: The Giving Gardens
In 2022, Impact Youth Club (IYC) launched the Giving Gardens project in partnership with a local farm to help address food insecurity while teaching youth about sustainable agriculture. Volunteers planted, maintained, and harvested vegetables throughout the growing season.
Together, the gardens produced more than 2,000 pounds of fresh produce, which was donated to local soup kitchens, food pantries, and community meal programs. This hands-on initiative provided nutritious food to families in need while teaching volunteers the value of environmental stewardship, teamwork, and community service. Through the Giving Gardens, IYC demonstrated how cultivating the land can also cultivate compassion and strengthen communities.
The Virtual Dragon Boat Race
Virtual Dragon Boat Race is a fun, year-long team competition designed to encourage volunteerism and strengthen teamwork. Members were divided into six dragon teams, each led by dedicated youth leaders who motivated and supported their teammates throughout the year.
Instead of racing on the water, teams competed by accumulating volunteer service hours through community projects and events. The friendly competition inspired participation, fostered leadership and collaboration, and celebrated the spirit of service. At the end of the year, the team with the highest total service hours was crowned the Dragon Boat Champion, recognizing the collective dedication and commitment of its members.
Year-End Celebration Banquet
2022 was an unforgettable year of renewal, creativity, and meaningful reconnection. From crocheting Worry Worms and growing fresh produce in the Giving Gardens to expanding environmental projects, launching the Zumba Dance Team, and returning to in-person visits with our senior friends, our 91 dedicated members demonstrated that service can be both joyful and deeply impactful.
We concluded the year with our annual Year-End Celebration Banquet, bringing together volunteers, families, and community partners to recognize outstanding achievements and celebrate another successful year of service. The evening honored the friendships, teamwork, and shared commitment that continue to define the IYC community, inspiring us to serve with even greater passion in the years ahead.
