2019: From Regional Club to International Impact

The year 2019 was a period of unprecedented transformation for the IMPACT Youth Club, marking a defining moment in our history. We achieved a major expansion in two critical areas: geography and service type. Across all branches, our total committed membership reached 102 members, who collectively contributed 1,295 service hours throughout the year and earned a remarkable 29 President’s Volunteer Service Awards.

19 PVSA Awards

The year 2019 marked a transformative leap for the IMPACT Youth Club, redefining our scope from a regional club to an international organization. This was a year of massive expansion in both geography and service. We successfully launched new branches in Connecticut and New York, and established our first international chapter in Taiwan. Our total membership surged to 102 committed volunteers across all locations, who collectively contributed 1,295 service hours and earned a remarkable 29 President’s Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA). Furthermore, our service portfolio broadened significantly, moving beyond music and fundraising to include crucial new programs in environmental stewardship and music and academic tutoring. To manage this complex, widespread growth, we integrated the "Better Impact" online volunteer management system, professionalizing every stage of the volunteer lifecycle, from recruitment to recognition, and setting the standard for future success.

Let's dive into all the highlights from this memorable year!

Charity Concert for Alzheimer's Support

In October 2019, IYC hosted a successful Charity Concert and Raffle Sale at the Chelsea Senior Center, aiming to support the New Jersey Alzheimer’s Association. This dedicated event brought music, joy, and companionship to the senior community while simultaneously raising critical awareness for Alzheimer's support. The initiative was a resounding success, ultimately raising $1,170 to aid the cause.

Launching Environmental Stewardship

Expanding its commitment to civic responsibility, IYC officially launched its new Environmental Stewardship service program. Volunteers dedicated significant time to improving public spaces by organizing multiple open space clean-ups, trail maintenance, and park cleaning activities. These efforts not only beautified local areas but also successfully brought young volunteers from diverse backgrounds together, showcasing IYC's dedication to serving the broader community and environmental health.

Fundraising for Rutgers Autism Services

IYC initiated a major fundraising partnership with the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS), an organization pioneering the first-of-its-kind community center at a U.S. higher education institution. IYC volunteers conducted five high-energy supermarket bagging events, utilizing their time and enthusiasm at local stores to advocate for the cause. Through these dedicated efforts, IYC successfully raised $1,200 to support the creation of the new RCAAS community center.

New Branches in Action (CT, NY, Taiwan)

The newly established branches in Connecticut, New York, and Taiwan quickly mobilized, proving the strength of IYC's decentralized model. Young volunteers across these new chapters immediately began executing local service projects tailored to their communities' needs. Through shared virtual platforms, these new members actively exchanged experiences, ideas, and passions with existing branches, enriching the entire organization's culture and impact model.

Pioneering Education Support &  Companionship

IYC successfully launched its comprehensive Education Support initiative. The program included various academic and music tutoring services offered to local community children, fostering educational success among youth. Additionally, IYC volunteers began offering regular piano lessons and companionship to senior citizens, creating meaningful intergenerational bonds and leveraging musical talent for therapeutic and social benefits.
