- Raise Autism Awareness and Help Autistic People
In April 2019 - IYC initiated a new project to support Rutgers University Autism Program. IYC Volunteers had conducted 3 separate Supermarket Bagging for Tips events and raised $1300. Money will benefit students on the autism spectrum under Rutgers University College Support Program (CSP).
On June 10, IYC was invited to attend ground breaking ceremony on Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS).
The center offers adults with autism spectrum disorder a unique support program to help them live independent and fulfilling lives. “This center will have a lasting impact on the lives of adults with autism in New Jersey and across the country,” Rutgers President Robert L. Barchi said at the groundbreaking event. What impressed us the most was the testimony giving by young man Zachary Sanborn, a clerical assistant for IPO-Mail Services at Rutgers who spoke about his personal experience at the podium. "For me the RCAAS is a place where you can check in on a daily basis, where people on the spectrum can receive all the support and help they may need", said Zachary Sanborn.
IYC is now planning a fundraising concert to benefit Rutgers CSP and RCAAS Autism Program. We welcome all to join our concert. Stay tuned, more information about the concert to come!
